TOKYO, September 8, 2026 — Vesca Co., Ltd. (“Vesca“) and Canal Payment Service, Ltd. (“CPS”) today announced a standard integration between PAYTREE, CPS’s payment gateway platform, and Seeds, Vesca’s payment and marketing platform. The integration enables PAYTREE merchants to add a broader range of payment options, in most cases without POS system modifications, while also supporting a new digital coupon service for digitizing paper-based meal vouchers and shareholder benefit coupons. A major restaurant chain is the first adopter, with the service available from September 2026.

As cashless payments become increasingly embedded in everyday commerce in Japan, merchants face growing pressure to support more payment options, simplify system connectivity and enhance both operational efficiency and the customer experience.
Operated by CPS, PAYTREE is one of Japan’s largest QR Code* and barcode payment gateway services, serving more than 1.89 million in-person and online merchants and processing approximately 2.1 billion transactions annually, representing about ¥3.5 trillion in payment volume (as of August 2026). CPS is a member of the JCB Group. Vesca’s Seeds platform brings together closed-loop payments, points, digital coupons and promotional tools in a single payment and marketing environment. Through this integration, Vesca and CPS will give merchants a more efficient way to address evolving payment, promotion and customer engagement needs.
1. Standard integration between PAYTREE and Seeds
PAYTREE and Seeds can now be connected through a standardized interface, enabling merchants to use the two platforms together without the need for custom development.
2. No POS upgrade required
PAYTREE merchants can add closed-loop payments and other payment options using a process similar to the one used for QR Code payments, in most cases without POS system changes. This helps lower the cost, complexity and implementation burden associated with service expansion.
3. Digital meal vouchers and shareholder benefit coupons
The new digital coupon service enables merchants to issue and redeem digital versions of meal vouchers and shareholder benefit coupons that have traditionally been handled using paper or cards, reducing administrative work for issuing companies, merchants and customers.
4. Unified foundation for payments and promotions
By connecting with Seeds, merchants can manage payments alongside points, coupons and other promotional programs on a unified platform, helping modernize payment and marketing infrastructure while improving efficiency and convenience.
Vesca and CPS plan to expand the integrated service across the restaurant, retail and service sectors. The companies will continue to deepen their collaboration to create new value in payment operations, promotional services and customer engagement.
Makoto Yoshida, CEO, Vesca Co., Ltd.
“Meal vouchers and shareholder benefit coupons are an important part of Japan’s customer engagement landscape, but paper- and card-based operations have created administrative burdens for both issuing companies and customers. By combining PAYTREE’s extensive merchant network with Seeds, we can help digitize these processes while allowing merchants to continue leveraging their existing POS systems.”
Ryosuke Shimizu, President & Co-CEO, Canal Payment Service, Ltd.
“CPS has long focused on helping merchants adopt new payment methods easily through QR Code payment technology. Through the standard integration with Seeds, companies already using PAYTREE can digitize meal vouchers and shareholder benefit coupons with the same ease as QR Code payments. We will continue to build on this technology to deliver value beyond payments.”
Vesca develops and operates merchant payment systems, provides prepaid and loyalty point services, and offers membership management and marketing support using customer ID data. Its solutions include the Vesca Ark multi-payment platform and the Vesca Seeds payment and marketing platform.
